Wise County Municipal Court Warrants
Wise County cities run separate municipal courts for traffic, Class C, and city-ordinance matters. Those courts can issue process after a citation or missed court duty. A county court-record search may help locate a case, but no source confirms that it includes every municipal warrant.
Start with the issuing city. The municipal court, not the Sheriff, decides whether to accept a plea, payment, reset, or recall for its own case.
Wise County City Warrants Stay Local
The official Wise County sources reviewed did not show a countywide municipal-warrant roster. Decatur, Bridgeport, Rhome, Runaway Bay, and Boyd each publish their own court or citation route, with different online tools and clerk contacts. A missing entry in the county portal is not proof that a city citation is clear.
For county felony or county-court matters, use the Wise County warrant records overview to find the separate clerk route.
Wise County Cities With Municipal Courts
These top five cities have distinct municipal-court contacts. An unincorporated-area citation instead belongs to the assigned JP precinct. The two Bridgeport addresses are especially easy to confuse: JP4 is a county court; Bridgeport Municipal Court is a city court.
| City | Municipal Court | Warrant Types | Phone |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decatur | Decatur Municipal Court | Class C, traffic, city ordinances | 940-393-0220 |
| Bridgeport | Bridgeport Municipal Court | Fine-only city cases | 940-683-3420 |
| Rhome | Rhome Municipal Court | Citation, traffic, FTA | 817-636-2333 |
| Runaway Bay | Runaway Bay Municipal Court | City court matters | 940-575-4745 ext. 105 |
| Boyd | Boyd Municipal Court | Class C, traffic, city ordinances | Not listed on reviewed court page |
Bridgeport Has Two Wise County Courts
Bridgeport Municipal Court is at 900 Thompson Street and handles fine-only city cases. Wise County JP4 is at 1007 13th Street, Suite 109, and takes precinct matters. A person asking about a “Bridgeport ticket” must first identify which court wrote it. Their clerks, dockets, and payment routes are separate.
Bridgeport Municipal Court accepts payments in person, by phone, mail, online, and through a drop box; the city says the box needs the citation number. Its page does not provide a public warrant roster.
Checking a Municipal Court Warrant
Use the city’s official citation portal where one is offered, then call the municipal clerk to verify whether a warrant is active. Decatur and Runaway Bay have city-linked portals, but their exact warrant-result fields were not confirmed. Bridgeport has no located public roster. Rhome’s city page describes GovRec as a citation and fine lookup.
- Open the city court portal linked by that city’s official website, if it has one.
- Use the citation number or name the city clerk requests; exact field labels are not confirmed for all portals.
- Call the municipal court when the portal is silent or the result does not state warrant status.
- Ask where to file a plea or request a hearing; consult counsel before appearing on an arrest matter.
Rhome’s Wise County Citation Lookup
Rhome publishes the clearest online citation path in the reviewed cities. Its GovRec service is described as a lookup and fine-payment route, with a card fee shown by the city. A written plea is due within 20 calendar days, and the court does not allow a phone appearance. The city says failure can lead to FTA, warrant, and license or registration consequences.
Use the Rhome Municipal Court citation page for current instructions; do not apply its deadline to another Wise County court.
Inside a Municipal Court Warrant
Wise County municipal portals do not have a verified shared field list. A court file may connect a citation to an offense, hearing date, court, and process entry. The sample below is not a local number format; ask the city clerk which identifier opens the case.
| Citation / case | EXAMPLE-001 is illustrative only; no countywide format was found. |
|---|---|
| Offense | Traffic, fine-only, Class C, or city-ordinance entry as recorded by the court. |
| Issuing court | Name the city court before requesting a status check. |
| Payment or hearing | Ask whether the balance, plea, or setting is current. |
| Process status | Have the city clerk confirm warrant, capias, or recall status. |
Wise County Cities Use Different Payment Routes
Decatur links a municipal portal and accepts pay-by-phone; Bridgeport lists several direct payment options; Boyd links to FastGovPay; Runaway Bay’s portal includes Municipal Court and Easy Pay. These processors are reached through city pages. They are payment tools, not authorities that can independently recall a warrant.
For Runaway Bay, the city court email is court@runawaybaytexas.com and its general number routes to extension 105. The exact portal search fields were not text-inspected.
How to Resolve a Municipal Court Warrant
Ask the issuing city court whether the case can be paid, placed on a plan, reset, or set for a hearing. Wise County city procedures differ. A capias pro fine is post-judgment process for fine and costs; municipal and JP courts have a statutory procedure, including a hardship-hearing option in applicable cases. The court must confirm the steps for its case.
- Confirm the case number and the process name with the city clerk.
- Ask whether payment, a plan, written plea, reset, or hearing is available.
- Follow the court’s direction for any required appearance or bond.
- Get confirmation that the court recalled the warrant and separately updated any DPS/Omni report.
Warning: A payment receipt may not show that a Wise County city warrant was recalled; ask the issuing municipal court to confirm status.
Wise County Municipal Process Has Limits
City police may execute municipal process, while county Sheriff records may document service or booking. That does not transfer recall authority to the Sheriff. For a city case, contact the city court; for an unincorporated JP citation, contact the assigned precinct. Use the Wise County traffic-warrant information for the separate DPS/Omni distinction.
